TWD: Espresso Cheesecake Brownies

Its' Tuesday! It's Tuesday! I get to bake with all my webternet friends! Yay!

I have been pretty excited with the September lineup since Laurie posted them a couple of weeks ago. This week's TWD, Espresso Cheesecake Brownies chosen by Melissa of Life in a Peanut Shell is a total winner. The brownie monster loves brownies, and I love coffee and cheesecake! Thus, he can have the bottom part, and I can have the top part! Yay!!

After rummaging through my baking pans, I realized I do not own a 9 x 9 baking pan (hint hint: maybe someone might want to give it to me as a Labor Day gift. I also accept cash or gift certificates preferably from William Sonoma, Bloomingdales or Sur la table, LOL!!) Okay, where was I before I got myself lost-- oh yeah, I have no 9 x 9 baking pan, so I decided to use an 8-inch spring form pan, thus baking time was 55 minutes.

I did not know what to expect since I did not see a photo in the book. Mine however, turned out more of a cheesecake than a brownie. The taste of coffee is very vivid in the cheesecake, the brownie dense and chocolate-y, the the sour cream frosting... hmm... the sour cream frosting...i love the sour cream frosting... it's almost like the Je Ne Sais Quoi in this cake....

Check out how the other TWDers do with their Espresso Cheesecake Brownies, and visit Melissa at Life in a Peanut Shell for her awesome take of this yummy creation and for recipe, or get Dorie Greenspan's book "Baking From My Home to Yours" and start baking with us!

Happy Tuesday!

  2. You are so right - more of a cheesecake than a brownie. I think I wanted it to be more of a brownie! Yours look like they turned out great!

  3. Brilliant work! I just love the real cake size and the brownie cut in a cake slice.

  4. Hi, Cecile: I didn't have expresso so I used a tablespoon of strong brewed coffee. It didn't work as I could not taste the coffee at all. However, I think it can be skipped but I would use a more chocolately recipe next time. The cheesecake combo was delicions.
