PB&J essentials at our house -- Organic Peanut Butter, Homemade
Strawberry-Rhubarb-Lavender Preserve, Queensland Butter, Nutella and
Fruits & Nuts Bread
March is National Peanut Month! In support of Feeding America and to salute this humble yet versatile protein rich legume, I present to you the ever classic PB and J sandwich.. my way.. and Bill's way. Again, this is MY way of doing PB andJ, and my way usually requires gadgets and well, unsimplified way of doing things! So read on and stop hating!
The Quisipro Peanut Butter and Jelly Spreader. This little bad boy is one of the best thing that ever happened to PBJ. It and 's color-coded silicone ends keep track of scooping and prevent mixing in jars, thus your Peanut Butter stays just Peanut Butter and your Jelly remains just jelly. I got this for Bill as a stocking stuffer about 4 Christmases ago. He got the hint, LOL!
The Panini Press -- Thanksgiving Panini, Tuna Melt, Grilled Cheese, Arugula and Gruyere, Banana and Nutella and of course, PB and J. There's not a sandwich in this house that we do not subject to the panini press, and for a good reason. See, when you use the press to make a sandwich, you have an excuse to slather it with olive oil and even better, butter ( I know Paula Dean will approve!). You almost always certainly get a perfectly crisp bread with melted, warm, gooey good stuff inside. Plus, the grill marks are just way too adorable!
My way -- 2:1 ratio of peanut butter and preserve sandwiched between fruits and nuts bread,
then slathered in butter and grilled!
His way (aside from the fact that I have to prepare it for him) --
equal amounts of peanut butter and preserve between oatmeal bread,
slathered with butter, grilled and finished with liberal amount of
Nutella sauce and powdered sugar!
